Description
SUMMARY
Functions
as
a light duty technician who is able
to perform maintenance and light diagnostic and repair on most vehicles.
DUTIES
AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
Process
- Performs
work
as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in
accordance with dealership and factory standards.
- Diagnose
cause
of any malfunction and performs repair correctly the first time.
- Communicates
with
parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Examines
assigned
vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is
required or recommended.
- Communicates
with
service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work
outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the
promised time.
- Documents
all
work performed and recommended on the repair order and multi point
inspection reports.
- Saves
and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the
customer.
- Road
tests vehicles when required to duplicate concerns or to verify concern.
Training
- Participates
in
manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events and
keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
Housekeeping
- Reports
machinery defects or malfunctions on equipment or special service tools
to supervisor.
- Ensures
that customers' cars and shop are kept clean. Notifies service advisor
immediately of anything
that
has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
- Maintains
and
is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns
them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were
received.
Safety
- Operates
all
tools & equipment in a safe manner (i.e. lifts, balancer,
alignment rack, air tools, etc).
- Understands,
keeps
abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local
regulations, such as
hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. Reports
any safety issues immediately to
management. (Use of ear and eye protection required.)
Performs other duties
as assigned.
MINIMUM
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS
AND
ABILITIES
- Associate's
degree
(A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school;
or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or
equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability
to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports
& read and understand computers.
- Ability
to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using
whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate,
ratio, and percent.
- Ability
to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete
variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written,
oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Valid
Driver's License, acceptable driving record & at least 18 years of
age required to drive company or customer vehicles.

PHYSICAL
DEMANDS
1.
Regularly required to
stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel & reach with hands
&
arms;
frequently required to walk, talk, hear,
sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and smell.
2.
Regularly lift and/or
move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and
occasionally lift and/or move up to 100
pounds.
3.
Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision,
color
vision,
peripheral vision, depth
perception, and
ability to adjust focus.
4. Must work a predictable and consistent work schedule as determined

WORK
ENVIRONMENT
1.
Regularly exposed to
moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; frequently
exposed
to
toxic or caustic chemicals and
vibration;
& occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions,
outside weather conditions,
extreme heat,
risk of electrical shock and explosives.
2. The
noise level in the
work environment is usually loud.
